| Title | Valorisation of almond residues via deep eutectic solvent-assisted activation for aqueous zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors. |
Agricultural residues offer diverse carbon-rich structures that can be tailored for electrochemical energy storage applications. Herein, almond residues were converted into activated carbons through deep eutectic solvent (DES)-assisted activation for use in zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors. The study demonstrates an effective route for biomass valorisation, emphasizing the combined benefits of hydrothermal pretreatment and DES activation. The resulting materials exhibited excellent electrochemical performance, delivering specific capacities of 181 and 75 mAh g−1 at current densities 0.1 and 10 A g−1, respectively, highlighting their outstanding rate capability.

Impact and dissemination
The eNargiZinc project was presented at the VII Jornada I3A – XV Jornada de Jóvenes Investigadores e Investigadoras (Zaragoza, Spain, 9 June 2026), reaching an audience of approximately 200 researchers, PhD students, and academic staff. The event provided a platform to disseminate advances in sustainable energy storage and biomass valorisation, engaging experts from materials science, chemical engineering, and environmental technologies. Participation fostered scientific exchange, strengthened professional networks, and opened opportunities for future interdisciplinary collaborations. The quality and relevance of the research were recognized with the Best Scientific Contribution Award in the Processes and Recycling Division.
